DJ Arab | Interview by www.illegalhiphopshow.com

Q: For those who don't know you around the globe, who is DJ ARAB?
A: DJ ARAB is hip hop simple as that. For those who know hip hop know what I mean.

Q: I see you grindin' hard on the mix tape game. Why and how did you start all that?
A: Hip hop was my heart before I became a DJ. I knew more about hip hop than actual DJ's did around my way. I started bootleggin' other DJ's tapes. My brother who was a DJ got locked up, so I started using his equipment. Around '93 I started making tapes under the name DJ Styles, and selling them for $10 a piece. When I made my first hundred I was the happiest kid in the world. When everything went to cd's I took a break for awhile. I helped my friend run a mixtape store, and worked at another mixtape store in another city. I came back on the scene as DJ ARAB and saw how the game changed. I wasn't happy about that , but I love hip hop so much I decided to stand by it. I was co-owner of a successful online radio station called Whatunobouthiphop? We won Best Website at the Central PA Hip Hop Awards. I started DJ'in in the clubs and became successful by being different. I prefer mixtapes over DJ'in in the clubs because when I do mixtapes I can do me. I met DJ King Flow, he put me on to Stretch Moneyy and the rest is history.

Q: What do you expect from the Illegal Hip Hop show?
A: I expect y'all to let me do what I do best. That's hip hop.

Q: You know we're international, but do you listen to overseas hip hop music?
A: Honestly right now, I don't. But I'm hoping through this experience I will learn to love overseas hip hop as much as I love US hip hop.

Q: What's coming next for DJ ARAB?
A: More and more mixtapes. I'm looking foward to growing with the Illegal Hip Hop show. Thanks for the opportunity.
