DJ King Flow is a DJ that continues to stretch the boundaries of what a conventional "DJ" is. The 19 year old that hails from Orleans, France has made several achievements that older DJ's have yet to attain. His biggest influences are QUINCY JONES, TEDDY RILEY, PETE ROCK, DJ WHOO KID, DJ PREMIER, MICHAEL JACKSON and many more... DJ King Flow is versatile and cannot be put into a box. The 19 year old phenom has also been crafting beats and mixes since the age of 9. His passion and intense dedication for music causes him to have a drive to always make additional tracks, while pushing to raise the bar for success.

What is the significance of your name and how did you get that name?

I had that name when I was a kid. American people were not able to pronounce my French name “Florent” so they called me Flow. And I came up with the name “DJ King Flow”.

Describe your style?

My style is unique. I’m doing my best to be a “street A&R” and work with artists from all around the world. At the same time, I am also a producer, you can always hear jazz music in my instrumentals. I have an instrumental jazz project coming on September  11th with Brain Kave Music Group & Lounge Masters.

What was the first record you start scratching and mixing on the turntables?

It was jazz music by George Benson & Earl Klugh, I had this record from my dad’s collection. The first hip-hop vinyl was “Put Em In Their Place” by Mobb Deep.

You are a pretty diverse DJ, describe the music scene in your neck of the woods?

The music scene in the US is very interesting for a French DJ like me. Everybody is grinding, trying to make moves, drop mixtapes and be active in the game. This is a mentality that I’m trying to bring to France and make the French music scene even better than it is now.

How is it to work live sets with some of today's biggest stars?

I don’t really do live sets with stars, I’m more about doing mixtapes with them and doing radio mixes. It’s always good to have a hip-hop star to support your work, it motivates you to work harder and be better than you are now.

Who and what are your influences?

My biggest influences are my family, my fans, Michael Jackson, DJ Clue, Alchemist, Madlib and Whoo Kid.

What artists are you listening to right now?

Marq Divine, Flowers, C-Will, Bill Thousand, Busta Rhymes, Krayzie Bone and everybody who sends me music for radio and mixtapes submissions.

Who would you like to work with in the future?

I would love to work with Method Man, Snoop Dogg and Big K.R.I.T.

What would be the steps you would take as a DJ to Break an artist in your area?

I’d do my best to have studio sessions with the artist, work on a solid project, contact radio stations, set up interviews with magazines and try to book shows of course…

Do you prefer radio or live DJing?

I prefer radio DJing, because I really feel free to play EVERYTHING that I want.

Is there anything you would like our readers to know?

I want to thank everybody for the support, be on the lookout for more projects sponsored by the Coke Boys South, my jazz project coming on September 11th, “The Sweet Science” with C-Will coming on August 13th, and I will be back on Fleet DJ Radio and UE Radio Live starting September  1st every Friday night 10pm-11pm on Fleet DJ Radio and every Saturday 6pm-7pm on UE Radio Live!
